Ad vocem

early music ensemble

Přemysl Vacek

performs on various types of lutes and historical string instruments which are used in Renaissance and Baroque music.

He specializes in basso continuo, both as an ensemble player as well as an accompanist for singers and instrumentalists. As a player of Renaissance lute, archlute, chitarrone, Baroque guitar and Turkish saz he performs with many leading Czech and foreign early music ensembles (Musica Florea, Musica Antiqua Praha, Collegium Marianum, Kvinterna, Ensemble Phillidor and others). With his own ensemble, Ad Vocem, he concentrates primarily on the less known music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque.

He performs regularly throughout Europe and has made a number of recordings for various labels, both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Supraphon, Panton, Studio Matouš, Arta, Deutsche Grammophon, Divox, Antiqua, etc.). These include Antonio Vivaldi´s famous Concerto for Lute and Strings in D-major, as well as his Lute Trio. He also performs as a soloist in a program entitled Early Baroque Lute Music of Prague.

Přemysl Vacek performs on masterful replicas of Renaissance and Baroque instruments constructed by David van Edwards and Jiří Čepelák
